Poker Hand Rankings
Below is our quick guide to poker hand rankings starting from the lowest to the highest:
High Card
This is decided when there is no other hand available, the person with the highest ranked card in their hand takes the pot ie an Ace.Pair
This is when a player has two cards the same ie two 8's, in the event of two players have the same pair the winner is then decided by which player has the highest card in the remaining hand.Two Pair
This as you would expect is when a player has two different pairs in their hand ie two 5's and two Kings, again if two players have the same two pairs then the player with the highest card remaining in the hand wins.
Three of a Kind
Should you have three cards the same you have a three of a kind ( this hand cannot be matched with another three of a kind )
Straight
This is when you have five cards that are consecutive but not of the same suit.
Flush
These are any five cards of the same suit that are not consecutive.
Full House
You have a full house when your hand has three cards the same and a pair for example three 9's and a pair of Aces.
Four of a Kind
This is when you have four cards of the same ranking ie four 3's
Straight Flush
Five cards in the same suit that are consecutive and you have a straight flush ie 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 of clubs
Royal Flush
If you have a 10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace of the same suit you have a Royal Flush.
